DEX offers a wide range of boots, to suit all types of riding in all types of weather. Whatever your choice, there are two areas you should be interested in– protection and weather resistance.

Most boots are aimed at either summer or winter use. If you just want one pair of boots to ride all year round, it’s best to go for a solid winter boot, with a breathable, waterproof lining. While these may get a bit warm and smelly in summer, it’s preferable to having blocks of ice for feet in winter. Boots like Spidi's Black Rain feature a waterproof lining and thermal insulation. They should also offer good levels of protection and, ideally, be constructed from leather.

If you only ride in summer, or can afford two pairs of boots, then it’s worth looking at a pair of race boots. These tend to offer a wider range of colours and designs, to match your bike and leathers, and usually have more armour protection built-in. Race boots are usually lighter, and offer more feel and control than heavier winter boots.
If you drag your toes or calves (!) in bends, then make sure your boots have replaceable, hard plastic sliders. Vents can also help keep your feet cool in very hot weather, as well as making you more popular at home when you take your boots off.

The best boot material for abrasion resistance is good old-fashioned leather. The other option is Lorica, a synthetic leather developed for boots. Lorica offers good protection, and has other advantages, such as colour retention.

All suitable boots sold by Dex come with a free pair of TwinkleToes® titanium toesliders.
